By now, if you are the type of person who picks apples in the fall, you’ve already picked yours. In Lake County, we are lucky. Several apple orchards reside within our borders, not to mention a handful just past our borders, making for plenty of good, fun apple picking. I prefer Lake County’s no-frills option, Heinz Orchard, tucked into the Libertyville area in Green Oaks. There, you pay strictly for the apples—no parking, no hay rides, no other craziness. Just lots of apples on lots of trees.
