LIBERTYVILLE – The annual Lake County Greek Fest will take place July 13, 14 and 15 on the grounds of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Libertyville.
Greek Fest will be open each day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Record crowds showed up last year to the O’Plaine Road location, south of Route 120 (Belvidere Road) and north of Route 137 (Buckley Road).
The beautiful golden dome of the 7-year-old church can be seen from the Interstate 94 tollway.
Visitors will be able to tour the beautiful fifth-century design Byzantine church with the pastor, the Rev. Cosmas Halekakis.
Come for the Greek food, including lamb, souvlakia (shish-kebab), Athenian chicken, gyros, spanakopita (spinach pie), and more. There also will be delicious Greek pastries, games and rides for the kids, Greek music and dancing.
The special musical act for July 13 will be the group Mellen Cougar. They will be appearing from 6 to 9 p.m.
St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church is at 1400 N. O’Plaine Road, Libertyville (between Routes 120 and 137).
There is no admission fee to the event and free parking will be available on-site.
Drive-thru service will be available each day from 4 to 7 p.m.
