Wisconsin man stabs fellow camper in the leg at Chain O' Lakes State Park, police say

FOX LAKE — A fight that began because a Wisconsin man climbed into a fellow camper's tent at Chain O' Lakes State Park without permission ended with the camper being stabbed in the leg, police say.

Tony R. Ozanick, 27, of the 6900 block of South Loomis Road, Wind Lake, Wisconsin, faces multiple charges after Lake County Sheriff's Deputies arrested him early Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, Ozanick had been socializing with fellow campers, whom he had met during the day on Wednesday at the park in unincorporated Fox Lake, early Wednesday evening. But Ozanick's fellow campers, including the 26-year-old New York man he eventually stabbed, asked him to leave their campsite several times throughout the night. After Ozanick left, the New York man went to sleep in his tent.

A short time later, the man woke up to find Ozanick inside his tent. According to the release, an argument ensued, which became physical. Ozanick produced a knife and stabbed the other man in the leg.

The man was transported to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Ozanick could face two to five years in prison. He remains in Lake County jail held on $20,000 bail, and is next due in court on Tuesday.
