Once homeless, now in apartment of her own
Dianna Hoppe enjoys peace and safety in her seventh floor studio apartment in Waukegan.
But, while looking out the window – as she often does to meditate – she saw a group of people, possibly a family, being evicted from the house across the street.
“At first, I thought, ‘They’re moving,’” Hoppe said. “But, then I thought, ‘If they’re moving, they’re doing a sloppy job.’ They dumped a mattress over the side of a railing and it was snowing out.”
Hoppe can relate to that scene. She was once evicted herself.
